| Ice Karting with TVRCC Surrey |

7th May 2009 - Bracknell Ice Rink
The Surrey mob started the month of May on a slippery slope, an ice-rink to be exact in Bracknell. An intrepid band of 25 drivers gathered rink-side for the safety briefing before teams were finalised and the racing began. The aim was to complete as many laps as possible with excursions to the corner of shame (aka. sin bin). The karting equivalent to dancing on ice was a mixture of (relatively) high speed drifting combined with balletic pirouettes. The competition was fierce with the only real damage being damp jeans and soggy seats.
Congratulations to the winning team, team three. There were only 5 laps separating 1st and 5th. Well done to Steve, Lorraine, Don, Darren and Nikki (who also won last time out!) More ice-karting will follow probably towards the end of the year, so watch this space.

18th April 2009 - The Sausage Tree, High Wycombe
Saturday April 18th saw the second group meal of the year unfold at The Sausage Tree, High Wycombe. A large section of the restaurant had been set aside for some serious carnivorous activity. A small number of the guests had visited the restaurant during the latter part of 2008 so we were aware of what was in store. The rest were in for quite a surprise.
The menu boasts 50 varities of sausages and an exotic meat selection which is more of a who's who from Woburn Safari Park. Tthe twist is that the more adventurous diners are presented with raw cuts of the cast of Madagascar and a superheated slab of granite on which to cook the meat to perfection. You can't really blame the chef on this occasion. Another brilliant night out was enjoyed by all. A huge thank you to Kevin and Sylvia who organised the restaurant.

Another great Celtic gathering is now done and dusted. The Charity Raffle raised £290 for the Rachel House. 25 cars enjoyed a glorious 3-hour guided drive, with birds and cars (not necessarily the type you immediately think of) causing a stir on the return to the hotel.

Saturday Feb 21st was the first of probably many visits to the Stoneleigh Brasserie in 2009. Conversation varied across a number of topics but centred on two themes, firstly our plans for the annual September tour of Europe and secondly why Jamie had gone for the tailored look. There was universal approval of a trip based around a single location covering Belgium, Luxembourg and France, the reasons behind Jamie's suave new look proved more difficult to pin down.
